Happy Wedding Wednesday! Today on the blog we will be discussing Plan B.
What's the saying...Plan for the worst, hope for the best! That's the life of a wedding planner. That flawless execution takes detailed planning and then detailed back up planning!
You have planned a beautiful ceremony under the gazebo, followed by cocktail hour on the resort's lawn and then an intimate reception on the Terrace. How romantic? BUT then torrential rain and flooding happens. Those who believe in old folk tales believe it is good luck when it rains on your wedding day. For the bride who has planned her beautiful, lakefront wedding down to the intimate details of timing the first kiss with the sun setting, it is a great disappointment. Don't stay in that moment for too long; accept and move on! Thankfully, you have a Plan B.
Plan B Componenets
1. Purchase Event Insurance - With event insurance you are covered! Severe weather, sudden illness or many other unforeseen circumstances.
2. Backup Ballroom - During your venue search, ask if the venue offers an option to move the ceremony/reception inside. If so, create a "just in case" ceremony and reception layout. Remember...."Plan for the worst, hope for the best".
2. Tent - Contact local party rental companies to find out their tent rental policy including reservation deposits and cancellation penalties. Professional Tip: Add an emergency fund to your wedding budget to prevent last minute surprises if the tent is required. If its not needed, more spending money for the honeymoon! We love those win-win situations!
Some of my most fun weddings have been when we had to switch to plan B. Its at tat point you realize all that matters at the end of the day is you will be marrying the love of your life!
